STEM Education

Our volunteers support partner organizations such as Community in Schools Chatham County, Chatham County Schools, and Pittsboro Boys and Girls Club with a series of events designed to let kids design, build, experiment, and optimize projects using very inexpensive materials.  Each project lasts about one hour.   We supply all the materials and coach the kids through these projects suitable for ages 9 to 18.   The result is that kids understand the basics of the difference between science and engineering, get to practice the engineering design loop, and can explain at a high level what engineers do in their jobs.

Science Fairs

Our volunteers judge school, county, regional, and state Science and Engineering fairs with in-person and virtual events.  We are available to support schools and students also.

Tech Career Days

We have a network of technical experts and business leaders and we have arranged speakers for several career days.

We have a few volunteers that regularly help tutor students in math.

Congressional App Challenge

This annual event challenges children to compete in designing and building software applications.  We can offer guidance to kids and their parents, and teachers in planning, designing, and testing apps for this challenge.
